We’re simplifying ways of working with the telecoms industry and innovating to futureproof our region as a place to live, work and enjoy by developing secure, efficient and sustainable digital infrastructure, enabling residents and business enjoy benefits sooner ending digital exclusion.
An overview of the programme
Digital West London is an initiative by the West London Alliance, a collaboration between the local authorities of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow Hillingdon and Hounslow which aims to improve outcomes for the West London sub-region.
It has secured around £10m in funding for key digital projects designed to unlock further investment and remove barriers to building the integrated advanced fibre and wi-fi networks which will support a modern, thriving economy, driving innovation, growth, productivity and long-term employment opportunities.
The Digital West London programme will enable:
- A Digital Place – Enable fast and secure network coverage to support home working publice service delivery for residents and businesses – 5G and Fibre. Define shared West London innovation challenges and agree measurable outcomes to support economic growth, tackle inequality and support de-carbonisation.
- Tackling Digital Exclusion – Improve digital inclusion to mitigate the impact of Covid-19, enable independent living, employment and learning. Enable increased access to services through digital inclusion.
- Digital Council – Generate new revenue streams through innovative technology development with universities and local tech partners. Challenge the market through Innovation Partnership procurement to stimulate business growth in emerging technologies.
